It is said that the Japanese air strength in the Hongkong area was some thirty aircraft, that the absence of fighter opposition during these raids has given rise to the belief that they had been transferred to the south west Pacific for more urgent use.

With the growing shortage of foodstuffs and daily necessities, the Chinese population in the colony is undergoing untold privation (Familiar details). The situation is aggravated by a shortage of shipping.. (Only three Hongkong papers still published).
